CargoCall is a cloud-based yard management system that handles truck driver check-in at the factory gate and guides drivers to the correct loading bay without any dedicated hardware. Drivers register from their own smartphone in one of 19 languages, receive translated instructions and route guidance, and pass through automated barriers via number plate recognition. Built by German software company Lean Department GmbH, it is positioned as a lean alternative to heavyweight yard management projects — the software is usable within 48 hours and requires no local infrastructure.
Drivers check in from their own smartphone by scanning a QR code at the gate — no app install, no terminals, pagers, or LED displays. A kiosk mode on a tablet or gate terminal covers drivers without a smartphone.
Drivers pick their own language at check-in. Messages sent by the logistics office are automatically translated into the driver's language in real time, so staff communicate centrally regardless of who is at the gate.
CargoCall assigns the loading bay or waiting area automatically, with manual override available. Drivers get a destination description including images and on-site route guidance, cutting search traffic across the yard.
Optional ANPR cameras recognize and match vehicles automatically, letting the system open barriers for entry and exit without manual approvals from gate staff.
When a loading bay is occupied the next truck is only admitted onto the site once the bay frees up, so vehicles are processed in a clear sequence instead of stacking up on the yard or backing onto public roads.
